At 22, Michelle Lynn is starting over again — new town, new clubs, new friends.
“I just want to be a mobile person.”
And so the singer-songwriter will finish out her teaching assistant job in La Crescent through the end of the term in February and then pack up her guitar, her poems, her dreams, and try to make it in the Twin Cities.
...
She doesn’t like to confine herself to one genre of music but says her starting point is folk music.
“I’d say folk is the reference point, but other things can stream out of it so fast and then it goes right back into that traditional folk. As long as it’s one girl with a guitar, how far can you stray? I like to pound out the emotions. I’m trying to take on subjects that should be written about. I really want to find music that has stuff in there.”
